Fishing Continues to be Good on Lake Minnetonka
All Fish Species Are Starting to Go on Lake Minnetonka - That Time of Year!
The weather this week was warm with not a lot of wind. We were after walleye and Northern pike on our recent guide trips on Lake Minnetonka. The walleye are biting on crankbaits in 10'-14' of water on the upper side of the lake. The biggest one this week was 25" and put up a good fight for my client who had never caught one before. Nice first walleye for him!
The pike continue to bite well on crankbaits on the weed edge in 14'- 16' of water. We have been catching them on both the west and east side of the lake with the east side doing a bit better.
We did catch a few nice size sunfish and crappies while pulling crankbaits this week, as well. But we are now seeing sunfish on beds and the crappies are in the weeds and on the edge of the weeds.
The bass are in anywhere from 2-8' of water and are hitting wacky worms and ned rigs. There has been some nice bass near docks if you enjoy tossing your plastics near them. Just try not to hit the dock, boat or canopy. Some home owners get pretty upset if this happens. One guy told me a few years ago that someone torn a hole in his seat of his old chriscraft. Now that would make anyone upset.
We have a lot of corporate trips on Lake Minnetonka this week so it should be a fun week putting clients on fish.
