The panfish bite is on!
Happy New Year everyone. The weather has been up and down, but we are finally driving vehicles to the ice houses. With the ice depth running 12-13" customers can now take the plowed ice road to the fish house they have rented.
This last week the sunfish bite has been the best, but clients are still catching crappies too. Most of the crappies are being caught after dark on minnows or waxworms.
A few pike, bass and walleye have also been caught. Small sucker minnows or fathead minnows have been best for them.
Most of the fish are coming out of 15-20' of water. The Aqua-Vu underwater camera that is hooked to the TV has helped catch them quick biting sunfish. And if them sunfish scatter fast watch because a pike is coming.
Our ice fishing season is officially over now on Lake Minnetonka. The latest fishing report shows unusable boat landings for our guided trips.
Good fishing on Lake Minnetonka with some nice weather to be outside. A mixed bag of pike, sunfish, perch and crappies. Get out now before it's over.
